Chamber Debate Club is an intensive debating programme that aims to enhance participants' communication and negotiation skills through British parliamentary style debate.
Participants will learn from world-class debaters and gain international perspectives.
The programme is part of the HSBC Future Skills Development Project and sponsored by the HSBC.

FEATURES
Four weeks of debating training will be conducted over Zoom. All the training sessions will eventually build up to a debating competition held at the HKFYG Leadership Institute, Fanling.
World-class debaters will be delivering four debate training sessions from July to August once weekly. During which, participants will come face to face to with professional, first-rate trainers.
Changes start with articulating ideas and presenting them in a structured, stylistic and compelling manner. Participants will receive theme-based training to learn different roles and strategies in the setup of the British Parliamentary debate style.
Through thematical and methodological training, student will not only develop public speaking and debating skills, but also cultivate social awareness to understand, discuss and debate world affairs.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS : HK$2,500 **
Scholarships are available for a limited number of applicants who demonstrate leadership potential and relevant achievements in public speaking and/or debating.
Applicants MUST OBTAIN nomination by their school.

FINANCIAL AID APPLICANTS : HK$1,500 **
Financial aid is available for a limited number of applicants who have financial difficulties. Applicants must provide valid proof of financial needs and demonstrate leadership potential.
** Each special fee offer stands on its own and cannot be combined with other offers. For example, if you are a scholarship applicant and complete your application before the early bird offer deadline, your programme fee will be HK$2,500, provided that your scholarship application is considered successful.

SCHOOL APPLICANTS
For teachers who wish to register multiple students for the programme
STEP 1
Download the Excel form via the link below and complete it with students' information.
STEP 2
Upload the completed Excel form to the link below and provide us with other necessary details.
STEP 3
Upon successful submission, you shall receive an acknowledgement email within the next 24 hours. The email may fall into your spam or junk folder; we ask that you check them out too.
• Please note that if any of your students wish to be nominated for scholarship, you should indicate in the Excel form that which student(s) is a scholarship applicant.
• Scholarship applicants are required to submit a personal statement as well as seek endorsement from the headmaster or teaching staff from the school. They may download the nomination form under the tab "Scholarship Nomination".
• For students who wish to apply for financial aid, please also indicate in the Excel form and we shall contact the students for proof of financial needs. They will be asked to fill out the individual application form for us to better assess their needs.
• Teachers who submit the group application may act as the nominator too.

STEP 3
Fill in your information and complete the personal statement which requires you to explain why you qualify to be a scholarship nominee.
STEP 4
Send the nomination form, which your have partly completed, to your nominator and seek endorsement.
Scholarship applications will only be reviewed upon successful receipt of both the online application form AND the nomination form.
If we do not receive the nomination form before the application deadline, your application will be processed as an early bird or regular applicant, depending on your application submission date.
STEP 1
For nominators of individual scholarship applicants -
Receive a confirmation email when the applicant(s) has succesfully submitted the online application as scholarship nominee(s).
For nominators of scholarship applicants of group application -
Indicate the nominated student(s) in the group application form (Excel form). You can nominate up to 2 students for scholarship.

Download the nomination form below. Nomintating teachers should complete the nomination form.
STEP 3
Give your endorsements if you would like to confirm his/her status.
STEP 4
Submit the completed and signed nomination form via the nomination submission form (also available below)
no later than 24 Oct (Sunday) 2021, 23:59
Scholarship applications will only be reviewed upon successful receipt of both the online submission form AND the nomination form.
*Every school can nominate a maximum of TWO (2) students as scholarship applicants.
*For group application, teacher(s) are also required to complete the above-mentioned steps in order for us to process the application.
*If we do not receive the nomination form before the application deadline, the nominee(s) will be processed as an early bird or regular applicant, depending on their application submission date.
ARRANGEMENTS IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19
Chamber Debate Club will be offered in a hybrid learning format.
Students will attend training sessions remotely and in person at The HKFYG Leadership Institute in Fanling.
In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, we continue to closely monitor the situation. Should safety measures and subsequent course arrangements require a change in teaching format, all updates will be announced in due course.
