Theme I: Public Speaking
Empower Students Through Effective Public Speaking Techniques (2024/25)

In the academic year of 2024/25, The HKFYG Leadership Institute will provide professional support service to secondary schools through professional development workshops on Empower Students Through Effective Public Speaking Techniques. The workshop aims to enable the participating teachers to gradually equip essential tools and techniques to effectively develop students' public speaking skills.

Instructor: Ms Ella LEUNG

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply key principles of public speaking, including rhetorical appeals, speech structure, and content enrichment strateigcs to guide student learning; and
  2. Analyze student speeches, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement in delivery and content; and
  3. Implement practical strategies to enhance students' verbal and non-verbal communication strategies, including clarity, vocal projection and effective use of body language.


Theme II: Drama
Integrate Drama and Speech activities into English Language Teaching (2024/25)

In the academic year of 2024/25, The HKFYG Leadership Institute will provide professional support service to secondary schools through professional development workshops on Integrating Drama and Speech activities into English Language Teaching. The workshop aims to provide participating teachers with practical strategies and theoretical underspinnings of integrating drama and speech activities into their lessons. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and develop lesson plans that foster students' speaking competence and cultivate their interest to English learning.

Instructor: Mr Jeff ANELLO

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Articulate the pedagogical rationale for incorporating drama and public speaking into English language teaching; and
  2. Implement a variety of drama-based techniques, including characterization, improvisation, and communication strategies, to create engaging and interactive learning experiences; and
  3. Develop lesson plans that effectively integrate drama and speech activities to enhance students' fluency, pronunciation, and confidence in spoken English.
