
Debate training aims to enhance students' debating skills, covering fundamental debate techniques, including argument construction, rebuttal strategies, and culminating in a debate simulation.
- Participants: Secondary 3–6 students
- Developing students an understanding of fundamental elements of debate, including refutation and rebuttal;
- Equipping students with a robust understanding of salience and contemporary issues across a wide range of domains and disciplines.
The programme offers one class. Each class has a quota of 30 students.
Debate Training (10 hours)
Participants will:
- learn the core principles of debate, including motion analysis, argument construction and effective rebuttal techniques;
- develop impromptus speaking and active listening skills during debate;
- explore the nuances of complex topics related to social policy, political theory and environmental ethics.
Annual Chamber Debate (3 hours)
Participants will apply their learned skills in a debate simulation. Participants will be divided into groups to research and prepare arguments on contemporary real-world issues, such as environmental sustainability, future skills, digitalization, and technology.
